EAST MOLINE — Geneseo dropped its second consecutive Western Big 6 game Friday night, falling to United Township 38-28 at Soule Bowl.
The Panthers' 10-point victory dropped the Green Machine to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in Western Big 6 play. United Township improved to 3-2.
The Leafs entered the game looking to rebound from its first loss of the season, a 13-12 homecoming defeat to Moline. The Green Machine had opened the year with three straight victories, beating Davenport Assumption 16-13, Rochelle 26-21 and Rock Island 47-13.
Friday's game continued a difficult stretch in conference play for Geneseo. After scoring 47 points in its Western Big 6 opener against Rock Island, the Green Machine has now dropped back-to-back conference games to Moline and United Township.
The 38 points were the most Geneseo has allowed this season. Through five games, the Green Machine has scored 129 points while allowing 98.
United Township's victory also continued its turnaround after entering the season following a 5-5 campaign in 2025. The Panthers came into Friday night's matchup at 2-2.
Complete individual statistics and a scoring summary from Friday's game were not yet available Saturday morning.
Next Up: Geneseo returns to Bob Reade Field on Friday, Sept. 25, to face Galesburg at 7 p.m. The Silver Streaks entered this weekend at 2-2.
