The Geneseo High School girls tennis team is asking the community to help provide warmth to people experiencing homelessness through its Love All Blanket Drive.
The team is collecting new or gently used blankets for The Third Place QC, an organization that provides support and resources to people in the community experiencing homelessness.
The drive will culminate at the Geneseo Girls Tennis home meet on Oct. 6, when community members can bring blankets to donate.
“We believe that something as simple as a warm blanket can bring comfort, warmth, and a reminder that someone cares,” the team said in announcing the drive. “We hope our tennis family and community can come together to make a difference — one blanket at a time!”
Supporting The Third Place QC
According to information provided by the tennis team, The Third Place QC works to provide resources and support for people experiencing homelessness, with a focus on dignity, belonging, and compassionate assistance.
The organization helps people access basic necessities, build relationships, and find pathways toward stability without being defined by their housing status.
The blanket drive gives Geneseo residents a direct way to contribute to that effort as colder weather approaches.
The team is encouraging not only players and their families to participate, but also friends and other members of the Geneseo community.
How to help
Anyone interested in participating can donate a new or gently used blanket.
Blankets can be brought to the Geneseo girls tennis home meet on Tuesday, Oct. 6. The team hopes to fill its collection with blankets that can be distributed through The Third Place QC.
“Let’s rally together and show our community what it means to have a heart for others,” the team said.
Those who would like to donate but need to make other arrangements for a blanket drop can contact Kate Ong, Kate Reed, or Traci Hassen.
The message behind the effort is summed up in the team’s theme for the drive: “Love All. Give Warmth. Make a Difference.”
