Geneseo Public Library Proposes $1.06 Million FY27 Budget

The Geneseo Public Library District has prepared a tentative $1.06 million budget and appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year running July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.

The proposed ordinance lists $1,064,914 in anticipated revenue and the same amount in appropriations. The district's largest projected revenue source is its $812,914 tax levy, followed by $100,000 in grants. Other anticipated revenue includes donations, interest, memorials and bequests, per-capita grant funding, replacement taxes, trusts, fines, and printing and copy fees.

On the spending side, the largest individual appropriation is $330,000 for salaries. The tentative budget also includes $200,000 for capital expenditures, $87,000 for maintenance services, $45,000 for technology, $45,000 for books, $40,000 for utilities, and $32,000 for programming.

The ordinance remains tentative.

The Geneseo Public Library District Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet Monday, Oct. 12, at 6 p.m. in the Foundation Room at the library.
