What’s for March?

2) Spring Trout Season opens on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Start time: 5 a.m. except for the Sheffield location which is 6 a.m. The limit is 5 trout per person. Break out ‘yer Fishing gear. So says the Vernal Equinox, the first day of spring is Friday, March 20th . Time to take an inventory on your gear, change the old line and clean out the old tackle box.
While you’re at It
Clean out any bird houses and/or bird feeders. From here on many of the snowbirds (both human and birds alike) will be arriving soon. Nests will belt and so it’s important to keep possible disease material away. When birds fly back here how do they know where to set-up camp or do they just “wing” it? Get it?
War Artifacts
Last Saturday I met with a nice couple who had some WW2 items they wanted to give away. They knew I liked those type of artifacts so I drove to the couple’s home in Orion. One item was a really odd looking Japanese (I think) helmet. it was green, several small holes for ventilations, no markings, and it had some kind of attachment on the front of the helmet where maybe a light would fit on. Really odd. Unfortunately, the soldier passed away some years ago. I have the soldier’s uniforms, a Japanese bayonet and a Japanese helmet. I have a lot of investigating to do. I’m going to try and set-up spaces in a museum. But at my age time is of the essence.
Lost Pounds
Our good Reverand needed to slim down. I’m no doctor, but I think he was a heart attack waiting to happen. He announced recently his diet is working. That is a good thing. He’s a nice person and we need him on this earth for a long time.
Zack Sullivan
We’re not Geneseo residents and so my opinion on “going in a different direction” weigh little on Zack’s dismissal. My dealings through the years with Zack were very positive. Whatever business hires Zack they will be fortunate.
Too Dry
According to a friend, Anthoning Peoples, Meteorologist, we’ve broke the record for the driest February since October, 1964. Let’s hope we get some good rains as we get close to and beyond March. Our farmers could use the moisture.
Humor
Lorna is threating to throw me out of the house because of my obsession with acting like a news anchor. “More on this after the break!” People think that grass don’t be wet in the morning, but it dews. When DeeDee and Lance were younger they refused to eat leftover tacos for dinner. So, Lorna said to throw them out. I did, but then I had no idea what to do with the tacos.
