GHS exploded for twelve 1st inning runs in a 25-0 demolishing of Alleman on Tuesday at Stone Field. AJ Weller and Kale Whitaker each had three hits and combined with Neal Gaskey drove in eleven of the Leafs 25 runs. Gaskey along with Alex Moe gave up only two hits and struck out six in the win.
The Leafs kept it going back on Stone Field the following day with a 11-6 senior night win over Erie-Prophetstown. Whitaker and Kolten Schmoll-Burton each drove in two in the victory.
GHS wrapped up their third home game in a three day stretch with a quick 15-0 shutout of Mercer County. Connor Mitchell went 3-3 with two doubles, three runs driven in, and three runs scored. Reade Murphy gave up just two hits while striking out four.
UTHS came to Stone Field for Saturday doubleheader and broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the 7th to pave their way to a 4-2 victory. In game two, the Leafs jumped out to a 4-0 lead but the visiting Panthers rallied to tie it up in the 5th before going on to win 5-4 in eight innings. Next Up: At Kewanee on Tuesday (4:30pm).

A Kruiz Ludwig RBI single in the 7th inning sent the battle with Princeton to extra innings on Friday evening at PHS but the host Tigers walked it off with an infield single in the 8th to pick up the 5-4 win. GHS bounced back in game one of a Saturday doubleheader in Galesburg as the Leafs struck for six in the 1st inning (all with two outs) and Ludwig pitched a complete game shutout for a 7-0 game one win. Brennan Lambin and Logan Palmer each recorded RBI doubles during the early offensive explosion. The host Streaks bounced back in game two as they handed the Leafs a 9-2 setback. Kruiz Ludwig gave up zero runs on four hits while striking out four in the Leafs 8-0 win over Alleman on Tuesday April 9th. Ludwig also added a triple and a run scored at the plate for GHS. Kale Whitaker & Jackson McAvoy added a pair of doubles in the win. Connor Mitchell gave up a single hit while striking out four as he closed out the final 2.1 innings on the mound. A Saturday doubleheader saw Rock Island take game one 4-2 in eight innings and followed up with a 8-1 game two win over GHS. Next Up: Home against Rockridge on Tuesday (4:30pm). The JV remain undefeated on the 2024 season with a pair of victories over Rock Island 8-4 & 5-1.

The Leafs made a Friday afternoon trip to Spring Valley where they defeated old NCIC foe Hall Township 13-0! Kolten Schmoll-Burton went 2-2 with two doubles while driving in two. AJ Weller and Logan Palmer added a pair of hits each while Kale Whitaker gave up just one hit in four innings pitched to earn the win. The bats were hot on the underclass level as well as the Leafs defeated Hall 16-6.
GHS followed up their Friday victory with a big Western Big 6 conference doubleheader in Moline. The host Maroons stopped a Leaf 7th inning rally to hold on for a 2-1 game one win. Schmoll-Burton scored the only Leaf run of the game and also pitched all six innings for GHS where he gave up only 2 hits while striking out three in the loss.
In the second of the twinbill, the Leafs fell behind 4-1 after five but rallied to cut the deficit to one but left the bases loaded in the 7th as Moline held on for the 4-3 win. Kruiz Ludwig went 3-3 with a double while driving in 2. The JV beat the Maroons 7-5 in game one and 4-3 in game two.

The return home from Tennessee saw the Maple Leafs jump out to a 7-1 lead enroute to a five inning 12-2 victory over Orion on Wednesday afternoon at Stone Field! AJ Weller went 2-4 with a triple and double while knocking in a pair. Kruiz Ludwig picked up the win on the mound.
On Friday, it only took GHS four innings to come away with a dominant 21-1 win over host Macomb. Kale Whitaker, Ries, Kye Weinzierl, and Brennan Lambin went deep in the victory over the host Bombers with Whitaker hitting it out twice! Lambin also pitched an inning and a third to earn the victory.
Doubleheader Saturday in Quincy as the Leafs and Blue Devils got Western Big 6 play underway. QHS jumped out to a 7-1 lead through two in the opener and held off a Leafs rally 8-6. In the second game of the twinbill, it was GHS who jumped out to an early lead as they lead 6-3 heading but the Blue Devils put four on the board over the final three innings for a 7-6 comeback win.
The Leafs drop to 3-6 overall on the season and 0-2 in the Western Big Six. Next Up: Home vs Metamora on Tuesday (4:30) at Stone Field.

The Maple Leafs baseball team spent spring break in Tennessee where they faced off with area teams from March 21-23. GHS returns home to take on Orion in non-conference play this Tuesday (4:30pm).

The visiting Spartans of Springfield Southeast jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first but that’s all they would get as the Leafs quickly took control on their way to a 7-1 victory on Friday at Stone Field! Kolten Schmoll-Burton picked up the win with Blake Welge (HR, 3 RBI), Kale Whitaker (2 2B, 3 RBI), AJ Weller (3B, 2R), & Connor Mitchell (2H) leading the Leafs at the plate.
